The City of Marikina is known as the Shoe
Capital of the Philippines" (also the "Shoe Capital of
Asia").Marikina City is the most industrialized city in Metro
Manila, according to MMDA.There are many landmarks located in the
city, such as the MarikinaSports Park, Marikina River Park,
Marikina Market Mall, MarikinaIndustrial Zone, World of
Butterflies, Marquinton Place, LoyolaMemorial Park, Sentrong
Pangkultura ng Marikina, Riverbanks Center, theGuinness Book of
Recordsbiggest pair of shoes in the world and other interesting
places. Someof the biggest malls in the metropolis are also located
near MarikinaCity, like the Sta. Lucia East Grandmall and Robinsons
Place MetroEast, both malls being situated along MarcosHighway and
also the Riverbanks Mall in Riverbanks Center. SM City Marikina
which considered as the biggest SM mall in the easternmetropolisis
also located in Riverbanks Center.

Authority and the FordFoundation. Marikina was also one of the host
of the 23rd Southeast Asian Games 2005 in
the Philippines which held the women's football event at the
Marikina Sports Park.
