The City of Mandaluyong is one of the
cities that make up Metro Manila. Mandaluyong city is bordered
by Manila, San Juan, emerging cyber park Quezon
City, Pasig and Makati. It is presently given the nicknames
"Tiger City of the Philippines", "Metro Manila's Heart" and
"Shopping Mall Capital of the Philippines".
It is located at the center of Metro Manila, and considered to
be one of the major business center, IT park and commerce hub in
the Metropolis. Asian Development Bank, San Miguel Corporation and
UniLab headquarters are found within the City of Mandaluyong in the
Ortigas Center.
As the "Shopping Mall Capital of the Philippines", Mandaluyong
is deemed for this title due to notable number of shopping malls
and entertainment hubs. Shangri-La Place, a residential and
entertainment district owned by the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts
is located at this city. It comprises the Edsa Shangri-la Manila,
the St. Francis Towers which is one of the tallest residential
towers in the country and the Shangri-La Plaza, the only retail arm
of Shangri-La Group in the world.
One of the largest shopping malls in Asia, SM Megamall is
located at Mandaluyong City. It is one of the premier malls of the
largest mall chain in Asia. Another is the Podium which is an
upscale retail complex which has exclusive boutiques and
restaurants. Edsa Central and Star Mall are for the blue-collar and
low-cost consumers. Wack Wack Golf and Country Club are found along
Shaw Boulevard and they are considered
an excellent option for playing golf.
Call Centers, BPO, IT and other outsourcing companies are now
starting to look for technology park like Mandaluyong for less
expensive office space. Call centers and BPO companies
already exist here with more arriving. Most of the
buildings are Class B or C. However, with the rent boom in
outsourcing in Metro-Manila we are starting too see
construction of Class A office buildings in Mandaluyoung, which are
for both rent, lease and sale.
