'Emerging Asia' them signals country's readiness for integration

THE 5TH Asia CEO Awards adapted the theme "Emerging Asia" with
the hope of sending the message of the region's readiness for the
Asia CEO Awards, presented by PLDT Alpha Enterprise represents
the union of local and international business people with the sole
objective of promoting the Philippines on the world stage. The
awards night is a natural product of the Asia CEO Forum, a regular
networking event for the business community in the Philippines.
The judges of Asia CEO Awards gave away 10 awards to many of the
most accomplished leadership teams and individuals currently
operating in the Philippines and the region. The awards recognize
extraordinary leaders who have demonstrated outstanding achievement
for their organizations and contributions to others.
Smart Communications is named "Top Employer of the Year" for the
second time. Smart chair Manny V. Pangilinan personally
accepted the award at Solaire Resorts on Nov. 12. Annette Santiago,
people division head and senior vice president of Smart, said the
award was "made more meaningful by the major transformations the
company had to go through in recent years."
Henry Sy Sr., SM Group founder received a special citation
"Lifetime Contributor of the Year" for the private sector, Sy is
also named business magazine Forbes' richest Filipino.
Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez received the same award for the
public sector category Jimenez's leadership turned the tourism
industry as one of the top-earning industries in the country. The
Philippines has been recognized by international organizations as a
result of the Department of Tourism's campaigns since Jimenez took
over the department.
Other category winners included El Nido Resorts as Hospitality
Destination of the Year; Envirosite Corp. as Technology Company of
the Year; and Philex Mining Corp. as Corporate Governance Company
of the Year; Michael McCullough, managing director of KMC MAG
Group, received the Young Leader of the Year; Lars Wittig,country
manager of Regus Philippines, was named as Expatriate Executive of
the Year; and Roberto Juanchito Bispo, president of First Metro
Investment Corp., was named as Global Filipino Executive of the
Year; PJ. Lhuillier Inc. was awarded CSR Company of the Yeai; while
San Carlos Solar Energy Inc. was named Green Company of the Year
Generika Drugstore was named Most Innovative Company of the Year;
Fluor Daniel Inc.Philippines the Quality Company of the Year.
The awards were presented by SIS Global, Smart Communications,
SHORE Solutions, Security Bank, PLDT Alpha Enterprise, Philippine
Airlines, Oracle, NEC, Meralco, KPMG, Jones Lang LaSalle, First
Carbon Solutions and Capital One.
