PHL ICT industry leaders recognized

THE Philippines has emerged as
one of the world s fastestgrowing
destinations for information
technologybusiness process management (ITBPM).
In so doing, the country has
also become the dominant
player in this field in the
booming information and
communications technology (ICT) industry within
the AsiaPacific region.
The best of the best in the industry was recognized during the eighth
International ICT Awards Philippines on March 13 at the ShangriLa
Makati Hotel. It was organized by
the Canadian Chamber of Commerce
of the Philippines (CanCham), with
the Business Mirror as one of its
media partners and in association
with Information Technology and
Business Process Association of the
Held annually, the International
ICT Awards Philippines recognizes
achievements and excellence in organizations and individuals based in
the Philippines who have made valu
able contributions to the industry and
put the Philippines on the global map
of IT BPM industry.
Nine major awards were given at
the gala night which include Best Com
pany of the Year, Best Employer of the
Year, Best Filipinoowned Company of
the Year, Best Global Inhouse Cente
of the Year, Most Innovative Company
of the Year Best NonVoice Excellence
Company of the Year, Best Voice Excellence Company of the Year, Individual Contributor of the Year and the
Hall of Fame award.
The event was also supported
by Globe Business, PLDT Alpha Enterprise, Colliers International and
KMC MAG Group, as well as other
partners and support sponsors.
Also in light with the devastation that the recent earthquake and
typhoon brought upon the Visayas
region, the governing boards of
CanCham and Ibpap have agreed to
donate a significant portion of net
proceeds realized from The eighth International ICT Awards Philippines
to assist affected ICT industry in the
Visayas to get back into business and
generate employment and livelihood
income for the people of the Philippines.

Changes in the prestigious
PARALLEL with the ICT industry in
the Philippines, The International
ICT Awards Philippines has grown in
stature over the past decade. It has
become an eagerly awaited annual
gala event that is seen as recognizing
the very best in the dynamic and fastgrowing ICT sector in the country. In
recognizing and publicizing the very
best in the industry, the International
ICT Awards Philippines has inspired
and promoted the further development and growth of the Philippines's
ICT industry as a world leader.
For almost a decade, the International ICT Awards Philippines
has promoted the branding of the
Philippines as the world's destination of choice for ITBPM companies,
highlighting the achievements and
excellence in the ITBPM industry,
promoting ITBPM opportunities in
the Philippines and Filipino talents,
and recognizing the outstanding
performance and contributions by
companies and individuals.
This year, in response to suggestions from various major stakeholders
and past participants, CanCham and
Ibpap have upgraded the scope and
procedures for The eighth International ICT Awards Philippines event
in keeping with a maturing industry
and evolving best practices in international industry competitions in
the private sector.
The main new features in the
2014 upgrade are the following:
To recognize the thriving domestic and diversifying industry
in the Philippines, adding two new
award categories: The Best Philip
pineowned Company and The Best
Company based outside the National
Capital Region (replacing the Best
New Locator Award Category).
To recognize the growing significance of nonvoice services, focusing the existing Best Emerging Services
Award category exclusively on nonvoice
To enhance the value of awards in
highlighting just the very best with a
runnerup, as well as winner to be declared.
To acknowledge the public interest
in transparency in competitive events,
publicizing a clear, explicit set of the
criteria for each award category used
for assessing nominees.
To ensure integrity in judging procedure, publicizing the guidelines used in
the selection of the judging panel, as well
as the basic procedures to be followed by
the judging panel and for appeals.
To support the trend to a paperless
electronic business for costefficiency
and environmental reasons, adopting
a mandatory allelectronic inputs for
nominations and all supporting information.
With these changes, the most
soughtafter aiwardgiving body in theindustry is confident that it will ensure
the fundamental objective for holding the annual event, and that is to
choose only the best.
