KMC Savills recently hosted the Nordic Chamber of Commerce Philippines' "The Real Estate Update and New Members Welcome Breakfast." As one of its premium members, the firm delivered its latest office briefing and market outlook to the NordCham members. The event was held in the KMC Solutions Office at V Corporate Centre last Friday.

Research Manager Fredrick Rara started his talk with the latest economic considerations currently at play in the Philippines. Rara also discussed the Metro Manila Office Briefing for the first quarter of 2018. He gave special emphasis on the impressive growth recorded in the Bay Area given the influx of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators in the country. However, he assured the members that there is still sufficient occupier demand from non-POGO sectors.  

Rara also answered some questions from the attendees about investor profile, TRAIN Law, and an increase in Chinese investors in the country. He also shared insights on helpful public policies and government initiatives that the Duterte administration is yet to execute.

Aside from office spaces,the workplace design also became a hot topic during the event. Trends & Concepts Interior Designer Gail Bantiling discussed the evolution of workplace design. Bantiling drew it all back to the 90s that were dominated by action offices and cubicle types.

She also shared how design can help lower employee turnover in a company. Design should focus on work suitability, company goals,and encourage collaboration. The designer added that present trends are geared towards technology, sociability, and wellness that makes spaces multifunctional, social, inspiring and biophilic.

As an ending ceremony, NordCham also gave a warm welcome to its newest members. This includes KSearch, ManilaMed, MediaAxes Philippines Inc, PwC Isla Lipana & Co, Storm Learning and Dusit Hospitality School, who also recently joined the fold.
